Did anyone else watch the YouTube debates and notice this??

COOPER: Senator Obama, the laws banning interracial marriage in the United States were ruled unconstitutional in 1967. What is the difference between a ban on interracial marriage and a ban on gay marriage?
OBAMA: Well, I think that it is important to pick up on something that was said earlier by both Dennis and by Bill, and that is that we've got to make sure that everybody is equal under the law. And the civil unions that I proposed would be equivalent in terms of making sure that all the rights that are conferred by the state are equal for same-sex couples as well as for heterosexual couples.
Now, with respect to marriage, it's my belief that it's up to the individual denominations to make a decision as to whether they want to recognize marriage or not. But in terms of, you know, the rights of people to transfer property, to have hospital visitation, all those critical civil rights that are conferred by our government, those should be equal.
Separate but equal? SEPARATE BUT EQUAL?!?!
I try not to judge people by the color of their skin, but this coming from a man of African American Heritage? Doesn't this seem screwed up to anyone??
I don't know how I would defend his opinion, were I in his shoes. Still, there must be a better argument.

If you're curious, they're $14.95 and come with a side of soup or salad. They're quite large. (Someone at the next table is eating one.)
Someone please explain. I don't know what exactly, but...its just so weird.

Directions and two VERY unflattering photos of me (and some amusing ones of Sean). Enjoy.
I and my roommate have started a garden. I've planted 3 plumeria cuttings, along with a bunch of other stuff including random crap from the kitchen (tomato, poppy, strawberry etc; haven't tried for the meatball tree yet).
I'll see if anything flowers before the summer heat kills it all (except for the cacti and plumeria).
I feel guilty shopping at Wal*Mart, but sometimes I have no other choice (when shopping late at night or for something no other shop carries). I've therefore decided to make some sort of appropriate charitable contribution every time I buy stuff at Wal*Mart. Problem is, I haven't yet decided upon a charity. Suggestions would be very much appreciated. Right now I'm thinking Planned Parenthood or some group doing (real) AIDS prevention work in a 3rd world nation. Workers' rights groups would also be nice.
Please leave a comment if you have any ideas/suggestions.
...no, the 'James is a pinko freegan' fund doesn't count.

That is why we always insist on the
principle of Information Retrieval
Charges. These terrorists are not
pulling their weight, and it's
absolutely right and fair that those
found guilty should pay for their
periods of detention and the
Information Retrieval Procedures used
in their interrogation.
